Lilly had a strange habit, she wrote a short message on every bill she used. She had this idea when she was seven years old and saw a smiley face drown on a one dollar bill her father had given her to buy candy, however she never told him that she kept the bill instead. She didn't have that much opportunity to deal with bills, and received a stack of paper to draw from her parents every time she asked to draw on their bills, no matter how much she tried to explain her ideas. Hidden from her parents she would try to get bills from their wallets and draw. And she drew, she drew hearts, smiley faces, the sun, stars, random symbols she thought were beautiful, she tried horses, unicorns, birds. Anything she thought could put a smile on a stranger's face. Once she learned how to write she started writing messages nothing big, good luck or have a nice day. She never once received one of those bills she had no idea if people paid attention to them. Time after time she saw people getting the money just looking at the number and putting into place. She didn't see an old lady in a different city smiling at small hearts on her bill. A sad girl that thought that maybe the world wasn't so blue when a stranger had taken the time wish another stranger a nice day, the girl even wrote thank you under it. Lily was about to enter her first job interview, up until that moment she had no idea how much she could shake, the room was quiet, people were looking down. She was next in line when a man passing by let a bill fall down his pocket. She silently got up from her seat and went to the folded bill on the floor. She walked to the man calling his attention but he was already closing a door behind him and the door to her future was opening on the other side. A woman called her name, she looks to where the man was, she looks at the bill, one dollar bill, she could try and find the man later. She promised herself she would. Following the woman she unfolds the bill and a smile is formed on her lips.
